London-born singer, songwriter, composer and producer Cosmo Sheldrake creates experimental folk that's always surprising and unique. Released earlier this year, his album Wake Up Calls is like sound design for a Miyazaki film, with frequent use of endangered British bird sounds, and other ambient samples, creating an a wonderfully organic spread of songs. His new release is an acapella song called 'Beech'. This track also features distant ambience created from bird songs, and what sounds like the sea. Melodically, the song is complex, as Sheldrake weaves various harmonies and melodies across the spectrum of pitch in order to create a strange and playful song. -Ellie Rose-Davies
